Kidtime / KidsJam

and other children's activities

Kidtime meets on Sunday nights at 6:00 pm (right after Kids Jam). The kids are divided into two groups 3 yrs. - kindergarten and 1st - 6th grade. The two groups then have a Bible study geared for their age group and will either do some type of activity or craft.

At Kid's Celebration , kids ages 3 years - 2nd grade sing...shout....and celebrate God's goodness and love. Kid's celebration is where kids 3 years old - 2nd grade build their worship foundation. We use this time to focus on God in a personal way through fun songs, Bible learning and activities. We meet each Sunday during the morning worship service. Starting in one large group for music time and then dividing into two groups. The groups are divided by age 3 years - kindergarten in kid's celebration 1 and grades 1 & 2 in kid's celebration 2. Kids will enjoy an age appropriate Bible story and activity along with a snack.

Kid's celebration is taught by loving Christian volunteers that want to help children learn about a love for Jesus Christ.

Each year we have the following activities:
The Sunday before Easter the children's ministry sponsors a church-wide picnic, kite flying and Easter egg hunt. We meet right after the morning worship service at the pavilion at the recreation c enter for a time of hot dogs, hamburgers and fellowship. After lunch and kite flying the kids are divided into 2 groups and sent off to find hundreds of candy stuffed eggs that have been hidden. There is fun for all and if you're lucky you will find a "prize egg" which entitles you to pick a prize from our prize basket.

In May we attend a pre-teen retreat at Budd Creek. This is open to 9 year olds thru 12 years. We leave on Friday afternoon after school and return on Saturday afternoon.

Summer time brings church camp and vacation Bible school.
Church camp varies on the camp we attend. We have done our own camp at Brushy Creek Campground complete with great Bible studies, crafts, water fights, field trips and great food! We have also gone to Siloam Springs for kid's week there.

Vacation Bible School is a fun time for all! This past year we took a wild ride into God's word by visiting Avalanche Ranch. While we were there we met some pretty interesting characters! Each day every activity from snacks and crafts to Bible adventures focused on one simple Bible point. Kids also participated in daily challenges which encouraged them to live out their faith each day.

In October, the children's ministry sponsors a fall festival on the night of Halloween. This festival is an alternative to Halloween's normal scary activities. There is plenty of candy to be had by all! Last year we spent time with unmasked Bible heroes and this year we are looking to go back to the wild west for a Wild West Fall Fest! There will be carnival type games, crafts, face painting, pictures, s'mores and a visit with Pete at the pumpkin patch.

In December we have "Christmas Surprise." This activity is open to kids ages 3 years - 6th grade. During Christmas Surprise we have a surprise Bible character that tells the Christmas story, we make a Christmas craft and end the night with a birthday party for Jesus complete with cupcakes and candles.

New activities coming up this year are:
More than a movie nights - this is for 1st - 6th grade and is a time for us to watch a movie and have a Bible study during intermission. We will watch a movie that is out on dvd and tie it in with a Bible thought or character trait.

We will be participating in the Little Rockers Kid's Marathon only ours will be Sheridan style! Starting in November kids 7 - 12 years old can participate in this marathon event! Kid's will have to walk and log in 25.2 miles prior to the marathon date of march 2, 2008. Since the last mile of the marathon is in Little Rock and on a Sunday we have been given permission to finish our last mile of the marathon together at the high school track. The kids participating will have t-shirts, medals, certificates and a marathon number just like the kids in Little Rock. We have asked several churches in Sheridan to participate with us and meet us at the track and walk the last mile together with fans cheering us on!
