History of Immanuel Baptist Church
Immanuel held her first meeting in 1956 at the old National Guard Amory in Sheridan. She began as a mission and finally grew into a self-supporting church with 26 charter members. Since that time Immanuel has grown from a small congregation to one of the largest churches in Sheridan.
Immanuel has seen God do amazing things under the leadership of the Pastors they have been blessed to have. One of the most significant periods of Immanuel's history took place under the leadership of Brother Harold Epperson. During his tenure as pastor the church saw an increase in salvations, baptisms and church membership. As a matter of fact the church grew by more than 400% while Bro. Harold was pastor. To God be the glory!
In 2003 Bro. Epperson suffered a heart attack and went on to be with his Lord and King. This was very devastating to the flock that he loved. God was merciful and led us through a dark time in our churches history. We will always be grateful for Bro. Epperson's ministry and commitment to our church and our community.
In recent years the church has seen a new spirit and a fresh movement of God. We are experiencing numerical growth but more importantly we are seeing God change lives and strengthen our people! We are reminded God has promised us we has more in store for us than we could ever dream or imagine if we would simply trust Him and follow His led!
If you are looking for a church home, come be a part of all that God is doing here at Immanuel.
